TELL US ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND.
My father was a Civil Earthworks Superintendent at Thiess for over 40 years and as a result, my family relocated to many different parts of Australia while he was working on some incredible projects. This is where I got a taste for the construction industry and thought it would provide me with a great career and opportunities to develop.
WHAT INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE & NETWORK DO YOU BRING TO QA?
I was lucky to gain a cadetship at Thiess in the late 90's and began working in the coal mines in Central Queensland. From there, I was fortunate enough to work on the Special Project Vehicle (SPV) set-up of Lane Cove Tunnel, Eastlink, Victorian Desalination project and a number of casino projects in Macau with Leighton Asia.
Having worked across several PPP's and major projects I have been fortunate enough to gain an extensive network of senior managers and executives that I have remained in contact with over the years. I certainly look forward to bringing old and new relationships to Quinton Anthony.
WHAT SKILLS DO YOU BRING TO THE QA TEAM?
I've had a unique career to date and can utilise my finance and systems experience toward business improvement initiatives whilst also being capable of in-depth research and profiling. During my career, I also spent a number of years as an investigator. During this time, I was involved in major investigations including financial and fraudulent behaviours where I learned great skills to be able to go into difficult situations to find and profile people of interest. I think this is a unique skill set that I have brought to Quinton Anthony where I can find the right people and then hold interesting industry conversations.
HOW DO YOU SEE THE EXECUTIVE SEARCH MARKET IN MELBOURNE?
There are some great organisations we currently work with, who - like us - see the value in a transparent partnering approach. Good people are generally happy in their current role, however, our expertise enables us to search and engage with the right senior people who are interested in meaningful and challenging career opportunities that are 'off market'.
WHAT IS A PERSONAL PASSION OR PROJECT OF YOURS?
To me, the area of diversity and inclusion is imperative to a successful business. It allows everyone to feel included; to contribute without being dismissed for who they are and unlocking their opportunity to develop; give their very best and bring their whole selves to work. As a business community we are on a journey, and as an empowered change agent, I am committed to keeping the conversation going to create an ever-increasingly inclusive culture.
WHAT DOES BEING A TRUSTED ADVISOR MEAN TO YOU?
To be known in the industry as a trusted advisor, I think comes with being a genuine, open, honest and approachable individual who can relate to others. People can always sense when you are being insincere and a relationship will never develop as strong as it could. As Oscar Wilde once said: "Be yourself; everybody else is taken."
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE QA?
I was attracted by their values and philosophy of conducting work. As an Executive Search firm, creating and maintaining relationships with people is paramount to who we are and what we do. I enjoy that our business relationships lead to high-quality search work that is of critical importance to an organisation's success.
